110518 - Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport - It's exciting to be out on one of the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport runways for the FOD walk while big jets continue to taxi about, and take off and land on the other runways. About 200 airport employee volunteers took part in this year's walk. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport held its 10th annual Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Walk at sunrise this morning. Runway 8L/26R was closed for about 30 minutes while employee volunteers walked the runway looking for FOD. The airport performs daily inspections to ensure that the airfield is clear of debris, but the annual FOD Walk raises awareness about foreign objects on the runway. About 200 airport employees participated in the event. Wed, May 18, 2011 Bob Andres bandres@ajc.com
